"Well I’m not going to tell her," Cody said.

"Jimmy why don’t you tell her?" Buck asked, "You two have been pretty close lately."

"Yea, I guess I’ll talk to Lou and tell her," Jimmy said shaking his head.

"Tell me what?" Lou asked walking into the barn. "Ike I thought you were leaving. Didn’t Kid just get back? I thought I saw Kathy coming into the yard." Lou was trying to look over the boy’s heads.

All the boys’ had jumped at the sound of her voice. They had turned around quickly blocking her view of Katy. Ike, Buck and Cody all looked at Jimmy. Cody poked him in the back and whispered, "Well tell her."

Jimmy shot Cody a murderous look and cleared his throat. "Um, well look Lou," he started, "See Katy did come back but, well, see, Kid wasn’t with her."

"What!" Lou asked pushing her way past the boys. Jimmy was right Katy was standing there, her saddle and neck covered in blood. "Oh my god, Katy!" Lou exclaimed placing her hand over her mouth.

"She’s Ok, Lou," Buck said placing his hand on her shoulder.

"It’s not her blood," Cody said receiving a quick slap in the back of the head from Jimmy. "I mean…" He trailed off.

Lou stood looking at Katy all the color draining from her face. Kid was hurt and from the looks of things he was hurt bad. Lou spun around and looked at the boys, "Well what are we going to do?" She said with more strength than she felt.

." Jimmy thought. He knew Lou and Kid and broke up a while a go. Kid had even started seeing Samantha the new school teacher in town, but all the boys knew Lou loved Kid and Jimmy even suspected that Kid loved her even though he wouldn’t admit it. "Well we were just discussing that." Jimmy said. "Ike," He said turning to his friend, "I guess you’d better get going on your run. Buck do you think you could find Katy’s trail?"
Buck nodded.

"Good," Jimmy continued, "Then I think Cody, Buck and I will head out looking for Kid."

"What about me? I’m going too." Lou stated emphatically.

"I figured as much," Jimmy said smiling at her. "OK then Cody go let Rachel know what’s happened and we’ll get the horses ready."

Ike gave Lou a quick hug. <You’ll find him and I’m sure he’s safe> He signed.

"I know," Lou said smiling at her friend.

Ike took off at top speed on his run. Cody headed up to the house to talk to Rachel.

"Well stop by Teaspoons office on the way out of town and let him know what’s going on," Jimmy said. "Does anyone know where he was coming back from?" He said looking at his friends.

"Beckworth Falls," Lou said. She didn’t know why but she all ways made it a point to know were Kid was going when he rode out. Well truth be told she did know why she loved him no matter what happened.

The boy’s were all ready to go when Cody came back. Rachel had packed some food for them. It was a two-day ride to Beckworth Falls. Rachel came out as the boys rode out and called "Ride safe and bring Kid home soon."

The boys’ all waved and headed towards town. After a quick stop at the Marshals office they headed out towards Beckworth Falls.
