Happenings
Everyone had finished breakfast and the boys and Teaspoon had made their way into town. They all walked into the office and sat down.
Ive been meaning to tell you all something. Jimmy said with hesitation. This may not be something we want to talk about but it needs talked about.
Well, go on son. Teaspoon said, breaking the silence.
Im not going to fight, Ive made up my mind. I thought about the little that Cody has said and I decide! d. I think its time we all decide if or if you arent goin to be involved in this horrible war.
Well, good morning Louise. What can I do for you?
Well, Doc, I think Im pregnant and I need to know if I am or am not.
Thats good news Mrs. McCloud.
Lou cringed at that name. Mrs. McCloud. It was ok for now but Kid will have to tell her his name soon.
After a few moments of silence the doctor started again. Why dont you come into the examining room and Ill check you out.
Louise followed his instructions and went into the smaller room.

Jimmy, I thought we were finished with this. Kid yelled.
Well, were not Kid. You still havent given your answer to Lou or to anyone else.
Jimmy, whats it to you, youre not fighting who cares.
Obviously you, Kid and Lou too. Dont you see the look of fear in her eyes every time you talk about the future?
Jimmy, give it a rest. I thought this was over. Im not fighting for slavery, Im fighting for my home.
Isnt your where your wife is. Kid, she could be in the doctors office findin out shes gonna have a baby!
What! came Buck and Codys loud response.
Lou might have a baby?!!! Cody gasped.
Jimmy, why did you have to say that? She thinks she might be pregnant, yes.
So every reason to stay, Kid. was the last thing Jimmy said before being hit and pushed to the ground by Kid.
