Breakfast

"Boys, while Rachel is gone I need you all to help with cooking," Teaspoon said. The riders looked down and murmured. "Now boys, we need to let Rachel know she can go to visit Emma and Sam without worrying about us".
Noah smiled brightly. He was to take Rachel on the trip. He figured he would get to eat great with cooks like Emma and Rachel, and he would be well fed compared with the others.
"Cody, son you're up first," Teaspoon stated, staring at Cody. The boy had managed to get away of some chores too easily lately, so Teaspoon figured it was fair he went first.
Cody grumbled. He hated cooking. He turned to enter the bunkhouse while the other riders headed to do their chores. Inside Cody reached for the ingredients for making the much expected breakfast. "Okay first flour, then butter, then what?" he muttered. Then he thought:"I can do this, don't worry. Just think, that's all."
He reached for a pan and mixed the flour and butter. "Now, eggs and milk and sugar." He looked around - no eggs.
He walked to the chicken crop and walked inside.
"Lord," he said as the smell nearly knocked him down. He reached for
the basket and walked to the first hen.
"Okay, all I need is a couple of eggs," he said moving closer to the sleeping hen. He reached under the hen and grasped an egg. Suddenly the hen bolted at him. Cody screamed and backing turned away and ran. The other riders watched Cody run from the hen house followed by the hen. They doubled over with laugher.
Cody finally caught his breath and reentered the hen house and quickly gathered the eggs. He ran in to house and cracked the eggs in the bowl and looked at the list. "Milk?" Cody rolled his eyes and headed for the barn.
Cody walked towards the barn and entered. "Okay, Bessy, I need some milk."
Cody pulled up the stool under the cow and pulled the bucket under it. Cody begin the milk her slowly. "This is easy," he said to himself as he finished and gave Bess a gentle pat before he carried the bucket inside. He poured in the bowl and begin to mix the whole gooey thing together. Cody pulled the batter into a pan and placed it in the potbelly stove. He sat down and grinned. He was inside in the shadow while the others slaved in the hot sun.
The other riders walked towards the bunkhouse when a loud bang came from the house. They ran towards the house and opened the door and saw Cody covered with goo. Despite his appearance Cody smiled sheepishly.
"Breakfast anyone?"
